Proofreading

“Final Check” Editing

You’ve crafted, revised, and refined your manuscript. Now it’s time for a final pass before it goes out into the world

Proofreading focuses on catching lingering errors and inconsistencies in a finished, formatted manuscript, helping ensure your work looks polished, professional, and publication-ready.

What’s Included in a Proofread

Surface-Level Checks

A careful review of your formatted manuscript focused on spelling, punctuation, grammar, spacing, and minor inconsistencies—without altering sentence structure or style.

Formatting & Layout Checks

Flags for formatting irregularities such as spacing issues, incorrect page numbers, inconsistent headers, widows/orphans, or elements that shifted during formatting.

Style Sheet Cross-Check

A consistency review based on any existing style sheet or guidelines you provide, ensuring spelling, capitalization, and stylistic choices remain uniform throughout.

Marked-Up PDF

Proofreading is completed directly on your formatted PDF. You’ll receive the same file back with all corrections, comments, and flags clearly marked for easy reference.

All proofreading is grounded in professional training and a detail-focused editorial approach.

Proofreading is the final quality-control step and focuses on surface-level corrections only. It does not include sentence-level rewriting, stylistic revisions, or developmental feedback.

Is a proofread right for you?

This service is a good fit if you:
✔ have already completed major revisions and copyediting
✔ are preparing your manuscript for publication
✔ want a final, careful check before sharing your work with readers

Proofreading focuses on catching surface-level errors and formatting issues after revisions are complete.
It’s the final quality check before publication—not a substitute for copyediting.
