The Editor
Hello, I’m Sara
I’m the editor behind Write Way Edits.
I’m a fiction editor, reader, writer, single mama, and lifelong lover of stories—especially the quiet, complicated ones that don’t always reveal themselves all at once.
Storytelling has always been part of my life. I grew up surrounded by books, spent years scribbling stories of my own, and learned early how much comfort, clarity, and connection a good story can bring.
Over time, I discovered that what I loved most wasn’t being in the spotlight. It was working behind the scenes. Noticing patterns. Asking thoughtful questions. Helping stories become more fully themselves.
That’s the work I still love today.

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
Editing, to me, is careful work.
It’s about paying attention to what’s already working, what’s asking for clarity, and what the story itself seems to want next.
I value:
I don’t believe in one “right” way to revise, draft, or tell a story. Every manuscript brings its own questions, every writer brings their own process.
My role is to help you see your work more clearly—without stripping it of what makes it yours.
My Mission
To support fiction writers with thoughtful, honest feedback that helps them move forward with confidence—without fear, pressure, or unnecessary noise.
My Vision
A publishing world where writers feel informed, supported, and empowered to make decisions that align with their goals and values.
Training, experience, and a lot of listening . . .
I believe good editing rests on two things: a strong understanding of craft, and a deep respect for the creative process.
Over the years, I’ve built that foundation through professional training, genre-focused study, and ongoing education. And, just as importantly, through careful listening to authors, stories, patterns, and _______.
That combination shapes how I edit: thoughtfully, transparently, and with the understanding that every manuscript is personal.
Formal Training
Professional Sequence in Editing through UC Berkeley,
plus supplemental courses through UC San Diego.
Genre-Specific
Advanced training in editing science fiction, fantasy, and romance, including long-form structure, worldbuilding, and series consistency.
Industry Grounding
Ongoing professional development through the EFA and peer-based editor communities.
When I’m not editing, life is usually a mix of stories and chaos.
I’m a single mama, a dedicated coffee drinker, and the proud caretaker of a very spoiled bearded dragon. My favorite movie is The Princess Bride (a lifelong love), and while I have a soft spot for disaster films and Hallmark movies I will absolutely rewatch The Office for comfort.
I love both dogs and cats—but if forced to choose, I’m firmly on team cat.
I’m hoping to find my way back into running soon, own more leopard print than is strictly necessary, and believe that strong coffee fixes more things than it probably should.
Powered by coffee and a lifelong love of stories.
Interested in working with me?
If you’re looking for an editor who will meet your story with care, attention, and honesty, I’d love to hear about what you’re working on.
